Wonders From the Word – Its An Either Or World

December 18th, 2007 by phall

Choices.  I love choices.  Grocery stores, clothing stores, car dealerships, thrive on offering choices.   In fact, limiting choices almost seems un-American despite Henry Ford’s reassurance that you could buy any color of Model T as long as it was black.

Are you happy that there are more than two things to watch on TV?  If a restaurant offered only two types of food, would you go back?

Time and again, Proverbs presents two types of people.  Two and only two.   Only two choices!

Only two choices?

Only two choices!

That means either I am one or the other.  And so are you.

Either I am righteous or wicked; either insightful or perverse; either a wise man or a fool; either wicked or faithful; either righteous or a sinner; either trustworthy or a false witness; either a good man or a backslider; either sensible or naïve; either wise or a scoffer; either slow to anger or hot-tempered; either upright or a sluggard; either or.

Either I like what I am or I don’t.  Those are my two choices.  Its an “either or world.”
